Celebrate 2017 First!

Point to Ponder:

What successes, accomplishments and blessings did you experience in 2017?

A few days ago while driving on 5th street in Austin I found myself laughing at El Arroyo's (a long-standing and popular Tex-Mex restaurant) always comical outdoor sign, which read, "All I gained in 2017 was weight". While fortunately I didn't gain weight, I felt the similar sentiments--that 2017 was just an "okay" year and I'm eager to give it a swift kick good-bye. Then, as I thought more, it dawned on me that while 2017 gave me a fair share of uppercuts, the victories significantly outnumbered the punches. Actually, 2017 was much better than okay, it was pretty dang great!

For the past three years, we, iGnite have participated in a New Year's tradition, which is before going gang-busters and blowing past 2017 by setting new goals and listing everything you hope and want to experience and accomplish in 2018, we must first give 2017 a proper farewell party. What this means is to celebrate 2017 by identifying and acknowledging your small wins, large successes, hardships you endured, persevered through and overcame, as well as your many blessings. And, because we really do have short-term memory and for reasons beyond my understanding the brain tends to remember more of the bad rather than the good, scroll through your 2017 calendar and pictures on your phone. There is no doubt that when doing this you will be filled with gratitude and amazement, as well as confidence, excitement and inspiration for the new year ahead.

For your celebration convenience, we have a created a 'Celebrate 2017' printable worksheet so that you can write down everything that from 2017 that is celebration worthy. It's as easy as clicking on the 'Celebrate 2017!' image below and printing.

Good-bye and cheers to you 2017. Have fun celebrating!
