Four Yoga Poses for Summer Travel and Life

Point to Ponder: Is summer travel causing extra tightness and stiffness in your body ? Summer is no doubt a time for extra travel, adventure and fun!!; however with travel also comes sitting in cars and airplanes for longer bouts of time, sleeping on hard beds, or using stiff or too soft of pillows. Unfortunately, this can cause tight hips, sore knees, necks and backs and a body that doesn't feel as good as it can and should. While some travel tightness is inevitable, rememb

How Daily Discipline Can Set Your Summer Months Free

Inspiration from the iGnite Archives Point to Ponder: Where can you exercise daily discipline so you can find greater enjoyment in your summer months? ? Several years ago when I first read the quote below it struck me – I had always thought of discipline as willful containment, or reigning in, whereas freedom represented wide-open, “the sky’s the limit” possibilities. As I pondered this quote and it begin to sink in, I realized it was absolutely spot on. Within freedom lies t

15 Habits for Feeling and Being Your Best

Point to Ponder: What habits do you need to adopt, replace or eliminate? Even before having children I loved the start of school. I find the rhythm and routine to be rejuvenating and inspiring, much like the actual New Year. With that, I'm always looking to drop some habits that I picked up throughout the summer that no longer serve me, and replace them with new habits that will allow me to feel and be my best in this new season. One habit I'm adopting is a monthly marriage

Delicious & Healthy Black Bean Brownies

Amy Younkman, one of our Yoga Leaders, shared a delicious Black Bean Brownie recipe from HEB with me. I made them last night for the first time, hoping they would turn out good so I could share with you and also eat them today too! Good news — they are YUM, super easy and are ridiculously healthy to be so good and taste so real! The HEB recipe called for 1T of sugar, but I left that out and they still taste great. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! Ingredients 1 & 1/2C

Stay Young (Mentally and Physically) By Being a Novice and Always Moving

Point to ponder: How often do you practice being a beginner? This weekend I attended a portion of the Yoga Journal Conference in San Diego with iGnite Leader and friend, Amy Younkman. Amy leads our yoga and Power Pilates classes, has attended the Yoga Journal Conference for many years and always returns with excellent information. While we attended different classes, the one class that we took together was led by Bo Forbes and titled “Body Maps: The Road to Healthy Aging, Pai

The Pilates “Fab 5” Stomach Series

The Pilates “Fab 5” is a popular sequence of mat exercises that are some of the best ab exercises of all times. They are challenging, especially when you flow from one into the next. You can modify them by not lowering your legs as much and/or keeping your head down if your neck feels strained. 1. Single Leg Stretch Lie on your back with your knees bent in table top position. Let your abdominal muscles drop down toward the mat as you lengthen your spine, curl your chin into y
