Motivate, Then Dedicate

Claire to Disney. My sister put in two years of dedication to achieve her goals, culminating in a celebration of Claire's fifth birthday at Disney World.

Action: Make a dedication list and put it somewhere to be seen daily.
Research suggests that 90% of all of our thoughts and actions come from our subconscious mind, effectively from the sum total of our past experiences. Good or bad, we all are products of our parents and past experiences that we cannot change. But we can change our future experiences by consciously eliminating negative, selfish, or distressing thoughts and actions, so as not to pass them on to the next generation. And we can emphasize positive, loving, and joyful characteristics to our future generation.
The driving force behind iGnite is to motivate you to break through the “I can’t” walls. We set out to inspire you to do, see, and experience life’s blessings and take action, pressing beyond your subconscious physical, spiritual and mental boundaries. We also believe everyone is made for greatness and can do ANYTHING they set their hearts and minds to do, despite daily struggles or past experiences.
Getting motivated to change is the easy part, but dedication must follow. You can retrain your subconscious mind by taking dedicated and consistent action. Start by writing down your goals—what you want to dedicate yourself to do—and placing your list where it can be seen daily. Seeing the list daily will embed it in your subconscious mind, keeping you focused and dedicated.
There’s good evidence that dedication lists work. In 1984, a study was done of the 1964 graduates of the Harvard Business School. 95% of those who wrote down their goals at graduation were able to achieve them, while only 5% of those that didn’t write them down were able to achieve theirs.
Closer to home, my sister Shonna offers her own proof. Two years ago, she wrote down three goals and placed them on her refrigerator (see the picture above). The final goal was achieved just last week when they celebrated her daughter Claire’s fifth birthday with a week at Disney World. A-MAZ-ING!!!
Before Wednesday, I encourage you to take time to make a dedication list of your own. Write down what you’re dedicated to as well the desired result. Goals can come from any facet of life: spirituality, family, health, friendships, community, work, or career. Share your list with an encouraging friend or your spouse and post it where it can be seen everyday!
By pressing play and closing your eyes, I hope this week's video, “The Climb”, will serve as yet another layer of motivation to begin your week.
