Catching the Wahoo Bug

Turning of the leaves. The left part of this image was taken three weeks ago, and the right part just this week. What a difference three weeks makes! The foliage at the low water bridge is now in its full fall splendor. Wahoo!!
“Attitudes truly are contagious, and from time to time we need to ask ourselves, ‘Is mine worth catching?’” — Mac Anderson
Action: Catch a spirited attitude, maintain it and spread it to everyone you know.
Every year around Christmas I catch a really bad cold that settles in to my chest and creates the most delightful sounding cough. I'm not sure if catching my regular Christmas cold is due to higher cedar pollen, getting minimal sleep from cramming ALL of my Christmas shopping into those last few days, my over-the-top and stressful desire to wrap our oak trees with a perfect layer of lights in the wet and and cold, or a combination of all of the above. So with Thanksgiving less than two weeks away and Christmas not far behind, I've decided I will learn from my past and enter the jolly season with extra intention: to avoid my Christmas cold, to avoid H1N1, to get adequate rest, eat healthy foods, drink less alcohol, wash my hands, and catch the “wahoo bug” instead.
Until last Thursday I had not heard of the highly contagious wahoo bug. It was then that Monarch Simone Krasan told me that her three year old daughter, Olivia, had it and couldn't get rid of it. The symptoms are all too clear in Olivia's behavior:
Simone: Pick up your toys.
Olivia: Wahoo!
Simone: Get ready for dinner.
Olivia: Wahoo!
Simone: Brush your teeth.
Olivia: Wahoo!
WAHOO! I get to prepare and be part of a delicious and overly abundant family Thanksgiving dinner!
WAHOO! I get to buy and wrap presents for our family and friends!
WAHOO! I get to exercise under the incredible blue skies and in the perfect temperatures of Austin, Texas.
WAHOO! I get to decorate a Christmas tree, hang wreathes, and wrap my Oak trees with lights!
WAHOO! I get to go to parties and celebrate the jolly season!
In all seriousness, children are amazing and there is so much we can learn from them. Their playful and simple spirits plan an essential role in iGniting lives. I hope you've caught the wahoo bug just by reading this. Now go out there and infect everyone this holiday season with a healthy case of the wahoos!
This week's video is a demonstration of the new practice of “Poo Chi”, a combination of Yoga, Nia and Tai Chi, recently brought to my attention by Adrienne Thannisch. Giggles guaranteed or your class is free...
