iGnite for Men

Functional and Holistic Fitness

Time: Tuesday: 6:00 – 7:15 AM

Duration: Aug. 26 – Dec. 16 (no class during the week of Thanksgiving, 11/25)

Cost: $240.00 (plus $90.00 one-time equipment fee for first-time participants)

Equipment: Three resistance bands, physioball, jump rope.

Prorated fees for scheduled travel:
Neissa would like to prorate your cost based on your summer travel schedule. When signing up, please let Neissa know the dates you will be gone.  If you do not know when you will be traveling, though do know you will miss due to travel, please communicate this with Neissa and she will work out a plan for you.

Goal and Expectation:
Throughout our life the majority of us become less mobile, active, and flexible; spending the majority of our time indoors.  I don’t believe this is necessarily out of choice, rather priorities and lifestyles change and we typically spend hours sitting, hunched over our computer or desk.  As a result of this repetitive and non-functional movement, our bodies morph into a different shape and we become stiff, with the most simple movements causing pain and injury.

When we stop using our body and moving it in different directions, we lose the ability to move and function like we did in previous years.  While many and most of us workout (run, walk, lift weights), our daily movement is typically one dimensional, therefore increasing your risk of injury doing something as simple as reaching for a box or bending down to pick something up. 

Unfortunately, flexibility and functional movement (reaching and moving in ALL directions) are two things that are neglected and if you don’t use them, you lose the ability to have them, therefore making injury inevitable. 

My goal throughout your iGnite experience is to help you become more functionally fit.  The focus will be on yoga, athletic functional movement, balance, core strength, strength building with resistance bands, and cardiovascular fitness.

August and September classes will meet at the top of Mt. Bonnell.
