I am a native Texan, raised in the small town of Riesel, just outside of Waco. Riesel is a farming community with a population of 850. As a child, my father coached at the junior high and high school, so athletics was a natural part of my life. And it was the glue that held our rural community together. I participated as much as I could: soft ball, cheerleading, track and field, cross country, the drama club, even playing in the band. And my parents supported me through everything, giving me just three simple rules to follow: 1. Finish what you start; 2. Always do your best; and 3. Have fun! That last rule was never a problem.

Despite being in Baylor Bear country and surrounded by Texas Aggies, I was raised to LOVE THE LONGHORNS! Our family bled burnt orange. So after high school, I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. There, running became the exercise of choice because it was FREE! And soon after I began running, I was introduced to Lady Bird Lake. All of my runs would take place there and so began my love and appreciation for outdoor fitness.

When I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, I became a personal trainer at Castle Hill Specialized Fitness and Westwood Country Club, and, with my best friend, opened a non-competitive gymnastics business for children. Having multiple outlets for teaching, working with children, and working with my best friend really had me feeling on top of the world.

Shortly thereafter, I married Russell—a coach, of course! And just two years later, I felt a calling to combine my love for the outdoors, love for exercise, love for the playful and resilient spirit of children, and passion to inspire and instruct women to live their very best life. And so began iGnite in October of 2006.

I am always amazed at the paths God leads us on. I have no doubt that from humble beginnings in Riesel, He prepared me for my husband, for iGnite, and for my son Durant. Life is full of surprises, adventure, and blessings and it excites me to no end to think of what all He has in store for the future.
